What a beautiful way to start the day! Grade 1 students gathering during their morning prayer each day during Advent.
Yesterday, representatives from ATCO presented a cheque for $15,000 to the OLS Sustainability Club for their energy savings initiative. Congratulations to all involved! The future is looking greener!
We are ready!! Many hands make light work! We will have a poster when you come in so you can see the general area each grade will be sitting to help you decide where to sit!
As we enter into the second week of Advent, the second candle, also called the Bethlehem Candle, reminds us of Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem. We are called to prepare our hearts for Jesus’ coming. “Behold, I am sending my messenger ahead of you; he will prepare your way. A voice of one crying out in the desert: ‘Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight his paths’.”
Kindergartens hard at work practicing for their first Christmas Concert tomorrow (Tuesday) evening from 6-7 p.m.
Which musicians are the most relaxed teachers? Trombone players, because they let everything slide. 😂 Did you know that in grade 6, students get the opportunity to sample playing the flute, clarinet, trombone and trumpet? This experience serves as a “bridge” for students as they get ready for jr. high band in grade 7. We’re looking forward to the grade 6 musical debut at their first band concert in the new year!
TRANSPORTATION UPDATE 6:15 am – December 08, 2023 All of our schools are open, but some rural routes might not run due to icy conditions and accumulation of snow. Although conditions appear to have improved, significant snowfall and drifting on rural roads has created unsafe driving conditions. We expect in-town buses to run in all communities, but we anticipate that road conditions might cause some to run late. Even where we initially determine that rural buses can travel, individual bus drivers have the authority to cancel routes if they determine that local conditions may be unsafe. In the case that a route is cancelled, Southland Transportation will contact families. Students and staff driving to school should use extra caution and plan for additional travel time. Please do not leave children unattended at bus stops, and please ensure that they are dressed appropriately for the conditions. CTR will continue to monitor the road conditions throughout the day. For up-to-date transportation information, please click on “Bus Status” on the divisional website at www.redeemer.ab.ca
Some snow and a few elk won’t slow us down! With a few extra supervisors and lots of space for the elk to frolic, students were also able to spend some time in the beautiful outdoors at lunch recess today! It looks like a perfect Christmas card out there!
In November we had 19 grade six students volunteer their recesses and lunch recesses to act as Peacekeepers on our playground each day. They helped younger students navigate conflict by asking questions that sought understanding, they emphasized listening to others’ points of view and promoted the peaceful resolution of differences. Thank you for being leaders in our school!
Thank you to all the families and students who came out to our annual Advent Family Celebration this past weekend, and to all who joined us for our Advent mass on Monday. We are filled with hope for the coming of our Saviour’s birth.
Today we celebrated the first week of Advent by coming together for mass. As we light the first candle of the Advent wreath, we remember that it symbolizes the hope that Christ brings us. In a world filled with so much suffering, let us invite the light of Christ into our hearts and remember God’s promise of salvation.
