Tonight was the last game for our Senior High Girl’s Basketball team! It was a bitter sweet evening with it being the last game for some of our students graduating this year! #olsavalanches

We had our RCMP liaison, Constable Clace, present to our junior and senior high students today about drugs and alcohol and the adverse effects mentally, physically and socially. Junior high options students have been hard at work! With Syn-Bio doing a lab streaking E. coli bacteria, Band students learning how to read music and play in unison, and Foods class making some tasty treats, it was a busy day! #olslearning

Every week, staff at OLS take part in professional development. Whether in grade teams, division-based teams or as a whole staff, learning never ends! Today we were learning about coding and planning our next steps across the school. #olslearning

February, Black History Month, is a time for Canadians to honour and celebrate the diversity, history and culture of Black people in Canada and to acknowledge the many everyday contributions of Black communities from across the country. Mrs. Westlake’s class has been busy researching facts for Black History Month and on display at the front office is a chance for students across the school to learn about some of our famous Canadians. #olslearning

Father Lezano joined us yesterday for our school-wide rosary, dedicated to World Day of the Sick, which is today. Each of us is called to serve others, to help those in need, and as we pray for all those who are ill, we pray for the courage and compassion to serve those who are isolated, suffering, abandoned, vulnerable and ill. #olsfaith Our Lady of the Rockies Parish

Kindergarten to grade three movie night fun at OLS! Thank you to all of the volunteers who helped before, during and after! We couldn’t do it without all of our wonderful volunteers who donate so much of their time to making OLS the special place it is!

Mrs. Russell has begun a grade six crocheting club Fridays after school from 12:30-2:00. This activity happens every Friday there is school until June 2. Please contact Mrs. Russell if you require more details.

OLS had 5 teachers attending Writer’s Workshop for the last two days! Almost all of our teachers have attended at some point, as we work to continuously improve our teaching practices and build consistency across grades. #olslearning

It’s the hundredth day of school and so we invited some special guests to join us for the day! These seniors were just delightful!!

Our grade six classes have been taking turns at the Nordic Centre cross country skiing once a week! The weather has been awesome and the company fantastic!! #olslearning
